We have expanded our wine list to make the dining experience at The Siam Garden even more pleasurable.
We recognise that Thai styled dishes are never bland and the ingredients of fresh herbs, spices, chilies and lime do not make it easy for choosing wines.
However our experience suggests that young white wines with good intensity of flavour and juicy acidity are particularly suited to our style of cuisine. The Sauvignon Blanc grape seems to be the ideal all-rounder for most dishes and it is a matter of matching the intensity of the food with the intensity of the wine. Chablis and other Chardonnays go very well with satay and coconut milk and the Rieslings must be tried with their gorgeous lime acidity.
Red wines tend to be less sympathetic although the aromatic and acidic work well with the beef and duck dishes – cabernets and Beaujolais in particular. The New World wines tend to be soft and will not dominate the food. These wines have been chosen for the ability to accompany Thai dishes.
